A Little Rain Must Sell

A Little Rain Must Fall

Open Memorial Day 8a-Noon; Free EarthMix® Premium Topsoil Blend with $50 plant purchase!

It's the time of year when many begin to think that spring is nearly over with summer now staring us in the face. It has gotten a bit warmer, a bit sooner than many of us like. It doesn’t mean spring is over, just yet. Overall, the weather conditions could not be more perfect for putting the finishing touches on your garden.

Just a week ago, we were all beginning to get a bit concerned about the dry conditions. Swiftly, that situation has rectified itself. Even if you didn't get copious amounts of rainfall over the weekend, you probably got a significant amount. We have received over 2” of rain here at the nursery. All things considered, many folks around the area have received an inch or more of rain since last Saturday. When you combine adequate moisture with seasonal temperatures it makes for great planting conditions.

It looks to be likely that a few showers may occur over the next several days, but the rainfall is needed and necessary, even if it does make us alter our plans from time-to-time.  Having adequate ground moisture makes for comparatively easy digging; and that makes soil preparation much easier as well.  I am sure I sound like a broken record at times: often referring to gardening rudiments such as watering and soil preparation.  I do have a reason for that.  They are imperative for success.  As we stand on the doorstep of summer, those are the gardening axioms, which will surely spell the difference between success and failure.

In an effort to better make my point, and to extend much appreciation to you, as a BatesRewards member, we are giving away a Free Premium Topsoil Blend, (a $6.99 value) for every $50 of plants you purchase! Offer extends through Thursday May 31, 2018. One additional note: Change of hours is occurring. Friday is our last 6pm-closing day.  Memorial Day Monday we are open 8a-Noon.  Beginning Tuesday we’re open 8a-5p.

Happy Memorial Day,

David Bates
