Bates Nursery and Garden Center has been named the best nursery and garden center in Nashville for the 16^th year by the Nashville Scene’s reader’s choice awards. Bates Nursery and Garden Center has earned its place as the premier plant nursery and garden center in Nashville for its huge selection of plant material and its friendly and helpful staff of horticultural experts.

Bates Nursery was started in 1932 by Bessie Bates. The original location was on the corner of 26^th Ave and Charlotte Ave in downtown Nashville. In the mid-1900s, Bates Nursery moved to its current location on 15 acres bordering Whites Creek, just a few minutes’ drive from downtown Nashville. Today, Bates Nursery and Garden Center is owned and operated by David Bates, Bessie’s grandson. David oversees daily operations, and also writes the award-winning In the Garden with Bates Nursery blog.

Bates Nursery is best known for its plant selection. Unique houseplants, exotic tropical plants, annuals, vegetable starts, perennials, shrubs, and trees can all be found at Bates Nursery and Garden Center.
