Beginning April 10: two-person maximum/vehicle; one person/cart in checkout lines and no pets.
In our ongoing effort to provide a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for all, we are making a concerted effort to come to grips with the difficulties that Covid-19 has produced.
We are a family business. We have always encouraged visits to Bates Nursery to be a family affair. However, at this point in time, and for the near future, we must continue to find ways to reduce the number of people at our facility at any given time. Our lives depend on it.
Beginning April 10, 2020 we will be forced to allow no more than two shoppers per vehicle; we strongly encourage you to #shopalone. Never before have we made such policies. Regrettably, there is still a rather large contingent of persons who cannot acknowledge, or accept, the dire situation we are all in.
By the time you have read this, more than one million people worldwide* will have contracted Covid-19. Over 20% of all cases are here in the U.S., and that number is rapidly growing. In fact, in the United States, the number of confirmed deaths doubles every three days**. As of early morning April 2, over 5,000 people have died in the U.S., more than 1,000 of those yesterday. Let me do the math for you. In 15 days, at the current doubling rate, more than 160,000 people will have died…in the United States alone, from Covid-19.
Other essential businesses are also taking similar steps. If we are to live to garden another day, we all must take unfamiliar actions. Beginning April 10, Bates Nursery & Garden Center will adopt the following policies:
• No more than 2 shoppers per vehicle
• Each shopper must use a cart
• Each shopper must checkout separately
• Shoppers will be required to wait in 6’ marked checkout lanes until directed to approach register
• No children please, and no pets
Consider shopping online; w/curbside pickup or delivery: www.batesnursery.com
For now, it is something we can live with: #shopalone
