Wednesday holidays are always a bit strange.  Whenever Christmas falls on a Wednesday, obviously, one week later, New Year’s always follows suit.  Each time this occurs a seasonal disruption exists, a dilemma for every place of business.  It’s a double whammy. How will we deal with these holidays?  A shift of even a single day, either way, and it’s a no-brainer.  You simply add a day before or after and splice it onto the weekend.  Wednesday Christmases and New Years are much more challenging.  So what will WE do?

The last time we dealt with this was 2013.  The next time we will deal with this is 2024.  The next time after that is 2030. I have no idea, not even the vaguest recollection, of what we did last time.  Therefore, I can confidently say, when 2024 rolls around, I won’t remember what we did this time.  Will I even still ‘be’ in 2030?  Neither of us knows the answer to that question, fortunately.  So, in the meantime, it is 2019.  This time we’re going to close consecutive Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  We’re open Mondays and Fridays.

Then, there’s that whole ‘Winter Hours’ thing. We close winter Saturdays through February, typically. So, logically, we should be closed Saturday December 21, since it’s the first day of winter, but we will be open.  It’s the last Saturday before Christmas; we know you may have last-minute shopping needs.  So, let’s recap: We will be open Mondays and Fridays, the next two weeks.  We will also be open Saturday December 21st.  Beginning Saturday December 28th, we will be closed Saturdays, in addition to Sundays, for a couple of months.
