Today’s announcement by Mayor Cooper of increased closures to businesses has caused many to have concerns regarding our status.  As an agricultural related business that sells many fruit and vegetable producing plants, we take our designation of ‘Essential’ very seriously.  Additionally, the number of deliveries we make daily to our customers provides a necessary service to many who either cannot get out, or choose to eliminate contact with others by staying home.


That being the case, we continue to look at our processes and develop our strategy to meet your gardening needs, while maintaining the best practices of social distancing.  Obviously, vegetable gardening is at the forefront.  We are taking steps to insure we will have what you are looking for, in the varieties and quantity you desire.  Our ongoing focus on plants that provide necessary food production means we are bringing in vastly increased amounts of all the gardening favorites you have come to expect.


We have found it necessary to make a few changes, so that we may insure that we maintain the highest level of service and quality. Beginning tomorrow, Monday March 23, 2020, our hours available for “in-store” shopping will be reduced.  We will be, until further notice, open Monday through Saturday from 9am until 4pm; Noon until 4pm on Sundays.  The increased load of Internet orders, both for delivery and pickup, has created challenges.  Even though we will still be working our normal hours, we require extra time to pull orders we receive via our website: www.batesnursery.com.

We treasure the trust you have placed in us.  We are committed to meeting that trust.  For in-store shopping, we are changing the arrangement in our greenhouse to make safe shopping distances a priority.  We are increasing spacing to create a more comfortable experience.
