My powers of positive thinking and prognostication, and the limits thereof, have been exposed.  Obviously last week’s newsletter, Dog Days Done, may have been correct in stating the end of the Dog Days, from an astrological/astronomical standpoint, on this past Wednesday, but Mother Nature failed to take note.  As it turns out, week before last was only a reprieve; it is still very much summer.  Heat advisories are no joke. My assertion of the weather breaking, was to say the least, a bit of a reach.

After a scorching week, Friday promises to be the beginning of more moderate temperatures, as well as an increased chance of rain, through the middle of next week.  The lower nineties through Saturday transition to the eighties before the weekend is done. That certainly is welcome.  Fall may not be here yet, but cooler weather will ultimately prevail…eventually!

Fortunately, the advent of container-grown plants makes it possible to garden year-round.  If you can supply the water, we’ll help you understand what it takes to have success…any time of year.  Check out our Bates Nursery Botanical Boot Camp page (click here) for the latest in ‘long-format’ informational discussions, from our many experts here at Bates, new episodes occur weekly!

We sell the best container-grown plants, and Monrovia is at the top of the list.  Through the end of business on Thursday August 19, *all Monrovia plants will be discounted 20%*, only for BatesRewards members.

You have voted Bates Nursery the, ‘Best of Nashville’, a record 17 times; the last twelve years, consecutively.  We hope you’ll again give us a chance at this honor.  Simply click on this link for voting.  In order for voting to count, you must vote in 20 categories; it’s required.  I have put a couple of link shortcuts here: Home & Garden, click this for Best Nursery/Garden Center ballot. For best local blog, In the Garden with Bates Nursery, (this newsletter) is there as well.  It can’t happen without your vote; thanks for taking the time!
