Ladybugs are beneficial insects. They eat aphids and other pests.
Bugs are not always a bad thing. In fact, a garden with no bugs would be worrisome! Instead, a garden should be well balanced with plants, bugs, and animals coexisting. Problems arise when the ecosystem is thrown off balance. It is best to realize that some insect damage will be present in the garden. If there is a balance of beneficials vs pests and the plants are healthy then the damage will be minimal. The only time to take action (especially chemical) is if a particular pest is present in epidemic proportions threatening serious damage.

This section will tell you how to manage pests and maintain a balanced ecosystem in the garden. Simply locate the pest or beneficial insect in the list provided and follow the link to its information page.
